ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The JNC acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, the Gadigal and Bidjigal People of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that these lands always were and always will be Aboriginal lands. We celebrate First Nations Peoples’ connection to the land and recognise the importance of Indigenous voices and culture. We would like to advise that there may be images or videos on this website of people who have since passed.

JNC 2021 message for our communities:

A very happy new year from all of us here at the JNC. We all know that 2020 was a challenging year for everyone. It was also a time that we saw our local community come together to support each other.

A JNC volunteer helped manage the JNC fleet
Together with volunteers and Randwick Council, JNC helped pack and distribute food for people in difficulty during the pandemic

Although we still may have challenges ahead, we are looking forward to a year where JNC can help you remain connected with your family, friends and community.

JNC support this year

JNC has several services and activities on offer. These include family support, links to assistance for those in crisis, general services like a Justice of the Peace and form filling support, supported playgroups, volunteering opportunities, targeted domestic violence casework and social support and activity groups for older people.

We will soon be releasing a schedule with our updated groups, programs and services in 2021.

Stay in touch, so you don’t miss it. As the Covid-19 pandemic is still with us, we plan to offer programs both in person and via distance in line with NSW and Australian Government guidelines.

JNC 2021 digital plans

We also recognise that many people in our community can’t access online resources and support, either because they don’t have the skills yet to go online, or because connecting up is too expensive for them. We’re working on a major project this year to break down some of these barriers. One key relevant service here is ‘Let’s Get Digital’. This is a 1-1 program offered at our centers at Maroubra and Bondi Junction to assist people to use their digital devices such as smart phones, laptops or tablets.  It is tailored to exactly what the person wants to use their device for.

Did you know that last year JNC released several other webcasts? They covered topics such as mental health, parenting support, self-care strategies and many more. Here’s one:

Find more by typing “jnc webcast” in the search bar on YouTube.

Through the year we’ll bring you webcasts to support all members of our community.

And if you want to watch this new year’s message on video, find it here>>>

We look forward to helping our community remain safe and connected in 2021.
