ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The JNC acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, the Gadigal and Bidjigal People of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that these lands always were and always will be Aboriginal lands. We celebrate First Nations Peoples’ connection to the land and recognise the importance of Indigenous voices and culture. We would like to advise that there may be images or videos on this website of people who have since passed.

Term 1’s about to start! And here’s a chance to learn with JNC for everyone in the family … parents, kids starting the school term, & kids starting school next year.

Playgroup @JNC

Is your child starting school in 2022? Then JNC’s Transition to School playgroup is for your family. Mondays 10-11.30am in school terms.

This is your child’s chance to prepare for big changes. Here they can socialise with other children & build skills – numeracy, literacy, listening, sharing & following routines. They can also enjoy music & stories. A place to be culturally safe & learn about other cultures.

At Hope Uniting Church in Maroubra. This term the group starts on Monday 1 February. To register phone 9349 8200 or email families@jnc.org.au

Parents can also learn with JNC

Single Parent Support Group

Connect with other local single parents, share parenting experiences & learn from each other. Also learn about resumé writing and applying for jobs, co-parenting and mediation, strategies to manage your child’s behaviour, building strong relationships, and self-care. Every Tuesday for 6 weeks, 16 February to 23 March. 10am to 12pm at Daceyville Public School. Childminding available. For more information and to register, Angie on  phone 9349 8200 or email families@jnc.org.au

Tips for a good start to term 1

Here are some tips for a smooth start to the school year:

*Early bedtime so your child gets enough sleep (9-11 hours for kids aged 5-13)

*Regular exercise (about 1 hour a day, 3 days a week – walking, playing sport, swimming, games etc.)

*Healthy eating – involve your kids in choosing healthy lunchbox options. That means less chance of full lunchboxes coming home! Find some great healthy lunchbox ideas at this link>>>
