ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The JNC acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, the Gadigal and Bidjigal People of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that these lands always were and always will be Aboriginal lands. We celebrate First Nations Peoples’ connection to the land and recognise the importance of Indigenous voices and culture. We would like to advise that there may be images or videos on this website of people who have since passed.

Holiday break a bit of a worry for you? Wondering how to keep the family entertained and to access support after a very tough year?

Here are three ways JNC can make the festive season and summer break more care-free for you!

School holiday activities list

Are you looking for free and low-cost activities for the December/January school holidays and holiday season?

The JNC has compiled a list of free and low-cost activities around the Randwick and Waverley local government areas to entertain your children.

Find the school holiday activities list at this link.

Your local council may also add more activities – see the links below. And check out your local shopping centres to see what activities are available.

Crisis support in the holiday break

For the 2020 holiday season JNC has prepared a crisis services directory, listing contact details and opening times over the holidays for:

– Emergency assistance & food

– Emergency accommodation

– Financial counselling, legal advice & low interest loans

– Emergency telephone support

– Mental health support

Self-care tips for the holiday break

5 self-care tips that can help to improve your mental wellbeing:

GO for a walk in nature – leave your phone at home

TAKE a long shower or bath once the kids are in bed

PRACTISE 5 minutes of mindful breathing each day. Ideally while sitting still, but you can practice whilst hanging out the washing, washing up, while waiting for the kettle to boil!

PLAY your favourite song and sing and dance along

MEET up with a friend.
