Older people have “Such a happy day!”
Read about the opportunities the Junction Neighbourhood Centre offers older people in the community to get out and about and connect with other people.
A chance to dance
On Monday 25 June, The Junction Neighbourhood Centre (The JNC) held a Winter Lunch in Pagewood, NSW, and 73 of our clients joined us for lunch, entertainment, dancing, raffles and prizes. A combination of “great food”, good company, good music and the joy of being a raffle winner made it “Such a happy day!”, in the words of one of our clients.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way”
Our social groups and outings enable older people to get out of their homes, visit a variety of locations, and spend a few hours with other people in their community. Three of our clients recently shared their experiences with JNC social groups and outings:
“I wouldn’t have it any other way. I enjoy the outings and meeting old friends. In 2015 my son moved me to his house to care for me but I only lasted three months and came back to my place because I missed the outings and mixing with the other clients.” – Maisie, pictured in pink.
“An excellent and wonderful service for the elderly and lonely. It is well organised. You’re picked up at your home and off for a lovely day out. The volunteers and staff are so attentive to those who need help. So what can I say: Thank you SO much.” – Doreen
“My GP encourages me to continue the outings as she can see the difference it makes to my health.” – Eileen
