ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The JNC acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, the Gadigal and Bidjigal People of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that these lands always were and always will be Aboriginal lands. We celebrate First Nations Peoples’ connection to the land and recognise the importance of Indigenous voices and culture. We would like to advise that there may be images or videos on this website of people who have since passed.

Social Inclusion Week

Social Inclusion week logo It’s no coincidence that this year’s Family Fun Day runs during Social Inclusion Week – 24 November to 2 December 2018.

In fact, both events have been running for about the same time – this is our 9th consecutive event, and it’s ten years since Social Inclusion Week began. The aim of this week is to help all Australians feel included and valued, and have the opportunity to participate fully in society. Organisations are encouraged to run events that connect people, in order to build and strengthen relationships or networks.

These aims are aligned with those of our own event. Together with our event partners, we ensure that our Fun Day meets the brief of including people and offering way to address isolation.

Welcoming other organisations

Together with our event partners, we welcome the participation in the Family Fun Day of other services that strengthen the wellbeing of people in our community. We thank the Southern Courier for helping to spread inclusion by promoting this event to the community.
