The Junction Neighbourhood Centre welcomes, encourages and supports the involvement of the community through volunteering. Volunteers provide valuable assistance and a meaningful contribution to the community through their participation in a wide range of programs including Family Support, Aged and Disability, Information and Referral and Community Capacity Building. The Junction Neighbourhood Centre demonstrates a commitment to best practice in volunteer management, adhering to national standards. All of our team respect and support this commitment.
Volunteer roles include:
• Assisting in social group outings for seniors
• Assisting in individual social support for seniors
• Tutoring and group facilitation
• Assisting with administration and information support
• Computer tutoring
• Event assistant positions
The recruitment process
We welcome volunteers from all ages, cultural backgrounds and areas of experience. Unless otherwise stated, the minimum age for volunteering is 18 years of age. Volunteer opportunities are advertised through various outlets and applicants are provided with detailed job descriptions. Suitability is determined through a formal interview process.
The Junction Neighbourhood Centre carries out the following compulsory checks at no cost to the applicant:
• Reference Check
• National Police Check
• NSW Working With Children Check (for child-related volunteer positions only)
Training and induction
Successful applicants are provided with a Volunteer Induction Session and are supported by the Junction Neighbourhood Centre’s Volunteer Coordinator. Job-specific training will vary according to the role, and volunteer opportunities for specialist training are included in the VAST Learning and Development Program.
