Social Activities and Outings

If you would like to become more active and connect socially with others in your community, or you know someone who may benefit from more social interaction, please see our social activities and outings listed below. People living in the Randwick and Kingsford postcode areas are eligible to attend the groups listed. However we try to be flexible so please contact one of our Community Capacity Building Coordinators at the offices and times below and they will do their best to assist your request.

Randwick Walking Group: Wednesday once a month 10am – 12pm
The JNC runs a fortnightly community walking group on Wednesday afternoon.

Socialise and reap the benefits of walking and talking in natural environments and boost your mental health and physical well-being. Randwick’s Social Walking Group is a friendly, healthy and fun activity. All are welcome. We meet monthly to explore local parks and coastal walks in the Randwick area. Please note that we walk up and down stairs on coastal walks.

 

 

 

Book Club:  Monthly on Wednesdays 2.00-4.00pmBook Club is open to residents of Randwick and Kingsford LGA's.

Do you enjoy reading? Short stories, poems, biographies, novels, articles, novellas, magazines? Do you also like to discuss literature? At the JNC Randwick we’ll discuss a new piece of literature each month. Please come along, have a cuppa and meet new people.

Dates are 10th February, 9th March, 6th April, 11th May, 8th June, 20th July, 10th August, 14th September, 12th October, 9th November, 14th December.

 

 

 

Games Club: Weekly on Thursdays 1.30pm – 3.00pm

Come along to our games club where we’ll be playing a variety of board games, UNO, Pictionary, Family Feud, card games, guessing games, puzzles, word games, conversation games  every Thursday. Games are provided, but feel free to bring in your own for everyone to enjoy. All are welcome.

 

 

 

Community Meditation Program Maroubra Faith Aguga will run a ten week free meditation program from JNC Randwick, 2 Albert St (cnr Avoca St).

Join our weekly meditation at JNC Randwick or JNC Maroubra for a 1 hour meditation to replenish and nurture yourself. Fill your cup so that you can give from a fuller more refreshed place. You will be part of a friendly group and do not need to have any experience in meditation. Simply book in by phoning Shellie: 9349 8200.

This free meditation program is ideal for parents and carers. If you experience mental health issues, please contact your health professional before attending the program.

Drawn to Art is a social group for the maroubra community.

Maroubra Art!

Create art from the head and heart with local artist, Heather, at this friendly group!
Transform a simple drawing with paint, watercolour or collage. All materials & morning tea provided.

“Cafe Wednesday” Gathering the Dots Program: Wednesdays Cafe Tuesdays offers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women the opportunity to reconnect with supports and services to make the changes they dream of, a reality.

This unique program is Gathering the Dots and Cafe Wednesday is where we’ll meet. It has been specifically designed by Barbara for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and non Indigenous mothers/carers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children living in the Maroubra, Matraville and Malabar areas.

Come and enjoy a delicious morning tea, discussion and activities with others at this program.
