ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The JNC acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, the Gadigal and Bidjigal People of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that these lands always were and always will be Aboriginal lands. We celebrate First Nations Peoples’ connection to the land and recognise the importance of Indigenous voices and culture. We would like to advise that there may be images or videos on this website of people who have since passed.

BUS OUTINGS

Join JNC’s weekly bus trips with our staff and friendly volunteers to pack your days with fun. From museums, galleries, parks to more, our outings have something for everyone.

Our bus heads out 4 days a week on Mondays and Tuesdays for people living in the Eastern Suburbs and Thursdays and Fridays for people living in the Inner City and Redfern Waterloo areas. Each trip takes roughly 5 hours, with stops for morning tea and lunch. See our Newsletter for the bus outing calendar.

SOCIAL DRIVES

If a bus trip is not always your thing JNC also offers shorter and smaller group outings for two or three people plus a support worker These outings are in a car and usually include lunch or morning tea and visits to places of interest.

KNITTING GROUPS

If you’re looking for somewhere to make some friends and join in on some fun, then head on over to JNC’s local knitting group. Our knitting groups are a great opportunity to create beautiful blankets for Wrapped With Love, share your knowledge or work on our own knitting project..

Our Knitting Groups run on Mondays from 10am-12pm at our Glebe Centre and Mondays 9:30am-11am in Maroubra.

GENTLE EXERCISE CLASS

Our gentle exercise classes are a great way to enjoy the health benefits that come along with doing regular gentle exercise. We provide an opportunity for people looking to  make some social connections  or those just wanting to find some time for Gentle Exercise.

Classes run every Wednesday at our Glebe Centre from 10:30am -12pm and includes morning tea. There is an option to participate via zoom if being there in person is not possible.

Individual Support

SOCIAL SUPPORT

JNC provides individual social support to older people. We match you with a Social Support Worker or volunteer who can assist you to get out into the community for shopping, errands, or simply go for a coffee, or a walk or a drive to a local beauty spot.

FRIENDLY PHONE CALLS

For those feeling lonely or isolated or are house bound, our Friendly Phone Call service will enable you to have a regular chat with one of our volunteers. Our Friendly Phone Calls are available in a variety of languages, so let us know your preference and we will do what we can to make it work.

HOME VISITING

JNC can organise one of our friendly volunteers to visit you at home if you are housebound or would like some extra social connection. Our wonderful volunteers can spend time with you having a chat, spending time outside in your garden playing cards or board games or assisting you with your mail. They can also assist you in using  your digital devices.
